Texas Trail Drive - #5 "Wild Rose Pass"

. . . .    This is #5 in the series and is captioned "Wild Rose Pass".  Note the horse and Yucca as central points in the painting, highlighting the grandeur of this scenic area. (Continued Below)

Master of the Cattle Trail, we see here the Trail Boss keeping Talley of the entire herd and the cowboys in his outfit. Notice the historical accuracy of the man's tack: his saddle has a low roll "sling" added to his standard crupper to keep his saddle from slipping and tipping forward going down hill.

Across the trail one of the cowboys is going out to flak the herd for assurance against ambush. His horse is digging in on the hill slope while the rider is spurring him on up.
